Leong Weng Yee

Interventionist

Profile

Weng Yee is a full-time teacher with three years of experience working with lower primary school students (aged 7 to 10) with special needs, mainly MID, Down Syndrome and ASD. She has also worked with teacher aides and therapists to help many children with special needs integrate into a classroom setting smoothly. She is currently undertaking her degree in Psychology at Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).

Weng Yee is passionate about Early Intervention and Special Education. Her degree and diploma in Psychology empowered her with the knowledge and tools to educate children with different learning needs; whereas her experience in a Special Needs school was shaped her to be an effective educator who is capable of adapting to children’s diverse behaviours, needs and challenges, despite their various backgrounds and situations. She believes that parental/ family support is crucial to the children’s development as it often takes a village to raise a child. When all the important personnel work alongside the child, she believes that the children will be able to develop holistically and become independent individuals, regardless of their challenges.
