Social Skills

Social communication skills play a vital role in our children’s ability to form meaningful social relationships, and enable them to function happily and successfully in everyday life. Social skills deficits are an important target for intervention because they have a significant impact on academic, adaptive, and psychological functioning. At Bearie Learning Space, we equip children with a multitude of social interaction and communication skills using evidence-based techniques such as The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®), behavioural modelling, role-plays, therapist-facilitated games and individualised feedback on performance.

Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®)

The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) is a manualised, social skills training intervention for youths with social challenges. It has a strong evidence base for use with preschoolers, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder, but is also appropriate for preschoolers, adolescents, and young adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other socioemotional problems.
